Yongshun County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, boasts beautiful natural landscapes, rich ethnic customs, and profound cultural heritage. It currently has one World Cultural Heritage Site, one World Geopark, and 26 national tourism resource brands like national scenic areas. Although it is already the cold winter season, various scenic areas in Yongshun County are still crowded with tourists from all over the country who come to experience the Tusi culture and the folk customs of Tujia.
In the Laosicheng Scenic Area surrounded by Lingxi River, houses are arranged in order. Tourists touch the ruins to feel the mysterious and profound Tusi culture. And stones are neatly stacked layer by layer from the banks of the Lingxi River towards the mountain. The Laosicheng Scenic Area, with its unique perspective and imprint, showcases the glory of the 800-year Tusi regime.
Laosicheng has become the only world cultural heritage site in Hunan Province since July 4, 2015.
At night, tens of thousands of pumpkin lanterns are lit up one by one in Furong Town Scenic Area, and the 2-kilometer-long slate street is bustling with visitors. Since 2020, brilliant performances have been staged in the scenic area every day to showcase the magnificent history of the Tujia ethnic group, such as “The Carnival of Bifzivkar”, a large-scale ethnic epic, and Maogusi dance, attracting more than 3 million tourists.
From January to November this year, Yongshun County received a total of 9.6315 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of 17.9%, and achieved a total tourism revenue of 9.818 billion yuan, up 26.96% year on year.
Yongshun County was recently included in the “Top 100 Counties for Tourism Development Potential in China in 2023”.
